Haida House offers amazing all-inclusive packages that will allow you to experience the sublime natural habitat of the of Haida Gwaii and its people. Holidays will focus on the gorgeous scenery, wildlife and experiencing the Haida culture. Haida House is 100% Haida owned, and is focused on providing guests with luxurious private cabins and activities with a focus on the Haida history. Day trips include hiking, scenery viewing, museums, galleries and a marine Zodiac tour.
We recommend a 4 night stay here in combination with a longer holiday in Canada. We have included time in Vancouver to this suggested itinerary but further recommend extending the holiday to include some bear watching or touring of Vancouver Island or even further afield. After your flight from Vancouver to Sandspit airport in Haida Gwaii, you will be met and transferred to Tlell. Check in to the Haida House and meet your hosts for the next several days. Following a warm Xaayda Gwaay.yaay Haida Gwaii welcome you will enjoy a gourmet, west coast style dinner. Before or after dinner you will have time to walk along the long sandy beach or explore the 50 acre property.
Each day of your stay features guided excursions with a focus on wildlife viewing, First Nations culture and arts, eco-tourism and nature sightseeing. The order of the excursions is tailored to fit the local weather conditions and preferences of the small touring group.
Day 2 – SKIDEGATE + SOUTH END
Start your day with breakfast before departing for HlGaagilda Skidegate via a scenic drive along the coast. Upon arrival, you will be led on a private interpretative tour of the award-winning Kay Llnagaay Heritage Centre and Museum. An interpretive tour of the area’s carved poles follows, featuring visits to the studios and carving sheds of famed Haida artisans. Finish the day with an authentic traditional Haida dining experience.
Day 3 – NAIKOON PARK + HIELLEN
You’ll have the opportunity to explore majestic Naikoon Provincial Park today. Highlights include a moderate hike to the top of Taaw Tldáaw Tow Hill for a breathtaking view of endless beaches and distant Alaskan islands. After a picnic lunch at famous Agate Beach, you will discover the carved pole at Hiellen Village and a browse a series of local galleries and boutiques
Day 4 – K‘UUNA SKEDANS
Today’s adventure is a full-day marine expedition by zodiac to the ancient village site of K’uuna Skedans. Welcomed by a Haida Watchman, you will be guided through the site and learn the history of the village, what the poles represent, and how the people lived.
