Day 1-2

Montreal

Fly from London to Montreal, where you will spend the first two nights of your holiday, exploring this cosmopolitan Canadian city with a French feel.

Spend the time exploring the old and new parts of the city on a walking tour, and be sure to include a visit to the Notre Dame basilica, the Old Port and a trip to the BioDome, a magical place that is home to four ecosystems.

Day 3-4

Montreal to Saint-Paulin

Today you will travel from the busy metropolis to the spectacular and charming region in between Montreal and Quebec City. On the edge of Mastigouche Nature Reserve you will have two days and the opportunity to partake in a range of activities from fishing and horseback riding to hiking.

Day 5

Saint-Paulin to Chambord

Today you will be heading north to the town of Chambord, in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean area and the Historic Village of Val-Jalbert – a genuine company town complete with forty or so original period buildings.

Discover how people used to live in this ultramodern village where the residents had the luxury of electricity and running water twenty-five years before other residents of the province! Step out on to the glass platform lookout over the Ouiatchouan Falls, higher than Niagara Falls.

Your overnight stay here will be in a period-restored house or the renovated General Store, and your dinner and breakfast, which are included will be taken in the rustic yet modern Mill Dining room, just a short walk from your accommodation.

Day 6

St Alexis des Monts to Cap au Leste

Today you will be following the Saguenay River to stay on the edge of the Saguenay Fjord National Park. Here you will be able to explore the area on foot, bike or even ATV and enjoy the gorgeous vistas of the fjord itself and the surrounding parklands.

1 night in Saguenay.

Day 7-8

Cap au Leste to Tadoussac

Today you will head further down the Saguenay Fjord to Tadoussac Bay in the mouth of the fjord, overlooking the St Lawrence River. Tadoussac is one of North America’s oldest villages and is located in one of the most beautiful bays in the world and is great for exploring.

Your two night stay here will include a whale watching trip on the AML Grand Fleuve, the best observation boat in Canada, which, with its glassed-in panoramic decks, its terraces and observation platform offers the best view of the whales.

2 nights in Tadoussac.

Day 9-10

Tadoussac to Matane

Your journey today will be by road and ferry along the shore of the St Lawrence for one of the highlights of the trip, a two-night stay in the Matane Wildlife Reserve which has the largest number of moose per square kilometre in all of Québec.

Your stay will include a visit to the moose interpretation centre, black bear watching in their natural habitat, a moose photo safari, and wildlife watching by kayak and additional evening activities.

2 nights in Matane.

Day 11

Matane to Percé

Today your journey will follow the St Lawrence a little further before your journey inland takes you to the tip of the Gaspesie region, and an overnight stay in Percé. The Percé area is  ideal for hiking, bird watching, sea kayaking and many other outdoor activities. You will first be awed by the sight of Percé Rock and Bonaventure Island, just off the coast and a scenic  Percé Rock boat tour is included here; this is your chance to visit the most accessible northern gannet colony in the world! In addition, several different species of whales can be observed during sea excursions along the Gaspésie coast.

1 night in Perce.

Day 12

Perce to Carleton-sur-mer

Today’s journey follows the Gulf of St Lawrence round to the Baie des Chaleurs and you will overnight in Carleton-sur-mer, which is perfectly situated between the mountains and the ocean and very close to the border of New Brunswick.

Day 13

Carleton-sur-Mer to Riviere du Loup

You will skirt the borders of New Brunswick today as you travel inland back towards the St Lawrence River, for an overnight stay at Riviere du Loup where you will be treated to magnificent views of this mighty river, and where we have included a 3.5 hour marine wildlife cruise. Accompanied by experienced guides, you can hope to observe rorquals, porpoises, seals and other marine species which may include belugas. The ship will take you to the heart of the Saguenay-St.Lawrence Marine Park, the most beautiful whale watching site in the world.

1 night in Riviere du Loup.

Day 14

Riviere du Loup to Wendake

The penultimate day of your holiday will be spent following the shores of the St Lawrence towards Quebec City but heading northwest of the city to the shores of the Akiawenrahk River in Wendake with access to beautiful walking trails. Your overnight will be in very unique accommodation with the exceptional opportunity to experience authentic First Nations culture. The Hôtel-Musée recalls the architecture of a traditional Iroquois longhouse and features restaurant, private lobby and the Huron-Wendat museum.

Day 15

Wendake to Quebec City

Travel back to Quebec City today where you will return your car and have the day to explore this historic city, the only walled city in North America. Experience the old world charm and walk the cobbles, enjoying pretty streets and exceptional cafes and restaurants.

Day 16

Quebec City

You will be flying back to the UK today via Montreal, after some last minute shopping or sightseeing in Quebec City.
