In this immersive all-inclusive small ship cruise experience, your daylight hours are aboard an intimate vessel, hosting just 16 guests, while overnights are spent at comfortable, curated eco-lodges in the heart of unspoiled wilderness.
Reawaken your explorer’s spirit amidst the awesome vistas, fog ensconced mountain peaks, and austere, northern grandeur of Desolation Sound. A paradise as pure and remote as any destination on earth, Desolation Sound remains virtually unchanged from its earliest discovery.
Experience nature as it was meant to be. The ship is equipped to navigate hidden channels and discrete anchorages, affording you unparalleled views of sea lions, seals and dolphins immersed in this pristine playground. Search for humpback whales, sea lions, eagles and porpoises, explore quaint harbour villages including Lund & Gorge Harbours and witness spectacular coastal scenery.
It is, of course, also possible to include the cruise within a fly-drive holiday of the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island, so ask us for details.
Homfray Lodge is located in Desolation Sound, British Columbia. Built in 2008, the lodge is only accessible by water or air and is surrounded by the peaks of the Coast Mountain range and rainforest.
The lodge features Lodge Suites and private Chalets each with a private bathroom and ocean views. The main cedar beam lodge features a dining room, lounge with wi-fi, and a
wood burning fireplace.
The expansive dock is a natural hub of activity where you can kayak, stand up paddle board or enjoy swimming in the warm ocean waters that can reach up to 22°C (71°F). Daily meals are included and served family style with house beverages. The lodge is a perfect place to relax and “Discover the Calm” after exploring Desolation Sound.
Your cruising vessel is officially called The Pride of Victoria, but she is affectionately called The Toba Cat. Custom built for the Canadian Coast Guard in 1969, she spent many seasons on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. She is 45 feet (13.7 metres) long, and 17 feet (5.2 metres) wide making her a very stable catamaran.
The Toba Cat has a head on board (bathroom), a galley (kitchen) numerous decks offer excellent photo opportunities giving uninterrupted 360 degree panoramic views.

"It was an amazing experience for us as a family "
We returned from our trip yesterday and I wanted to send a quick thank you as it exceeded our expectations. Your help in putting together the trip and arranging the vouchers etc. meant that it all went smoothly and the places that we got to see were very special indeed; there were some that you would definitely not find yourself. You promised wildlife and it certainly delivered, with 32 whales over the two whale watching trips, a black bear and 7 moose.
It was an amazing experience for us as a family and one that we will remember for a long time and will have to work very hard to replicate.
