Alberta Winter Holiday
Do as the Canadians do, embrace and enjoy the snow; have some winter fun in the Canadian Rockies.
On your winter holiday in Canada, take a horse-drawn sleigh, drive a team of dogs, don a pair of snowshoes or relax in a hot tub surrounded by beautiful mountains and lots of dry fluffy snow. Drive from the city of Calgary to enjoy the splendour of winter in the National Parks.
Spend a few days exploring Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise, maybe taking in a hockey game (the Calgary Flames might be in action) and hopefully seeing the Aurora Borealis*.

Our visit to Canada has, sadly, been and gone too quickly. We had an absolutely wonderful time in Vancouver, Victoria, and all points to Banff. The travel arrangements were excellent. The hotels were all good and the various tours etc were again excellent. In addition to seeing numerous bears, eagles, the occasional whale etc., we were amazed at the size, the wilderness and peace of it all, and the Rockies were....the Rockies. People were incredibly and genuinely friendly and welcoming. So, many, many thanks for making the arrangements for us. we had a truly wonderful time...

Fly to Calgary from the UK and on arrival pick up your winterised car in Calgary and drive to Canmore for two nights in this lovely authentic Canadian town.
Take a dog sledding tour with Snowy Owl Tours and you will get to meet your energetic pack of huskies and see some of the most beautiful trails in the Canadian Rockies. Maybe extend your stay here and try your hand at ice climbing with Yamnuska tours. (Please note that dog sledding tours start in December but are weather dependent and subject to good snow conditions).

Today you will be heading further into the Rockies. Drive to the Bow Valley Highway for the pretty drive to Lake Louise where you will spend the next three nights.
You can take to the ice on the Lake itself on skates or put on snowshoes for a 2-hour tour to explore the area. Lake Louise ski area is also beckoning for those who would like try a day of skiing or boarding or maybe even for some tubing fun.

Head up Banff Gondola for an amazing 360 degree view of the fabulous mountain scenery, or maybe enjoy a day on the amazing ski slopes of Sunshine.
A 4-hour Johnston Canyon Icewalk is included during your stay.
Visit Banff Hot Springs for a relaxing warm-up before curling up in front of a fire with a mug of hot chocolate.
