Vancouver Island

Explore Vancouver Island:

Vancouver Island starts with the vibrant city of Victoria at the southernmost tip and stretches to the west coast, to which you must take a dramatic drive over the mountains to the small towns of Ucluelet and Tofino, and the magical Pacific Rim National Park. The road literally ends here. To the north and south lie areas of extraordinary beauty, reached only by boat or sea plane.

Why should I visit Vancouver Island?

One freeway runs the entire length of the east coast of Vancouver Island. Campbell River, about half way up, is the ‘Salmon Capital of the World’. Quadra Island, part of the Discovery Islands, is only a ten minute ferry ride from Campbell River and one of the best places in BC to sea kayak. Sonora Island is a 75 minute boat ride from Campbell River and is home the amazing Sonora Resort.

Further north, Telegraph Cove and Port McNeill are renowned for scuba diving and wildlife viewing. Sea otters, grizzly and black bears can be seen, with one of the greatest concentration of killer whales on earth swimming the waters, from late June to October.

At the northern end of the island is Port Hardy, departure point for the Inside Passage ferry, a splendid 15 hour mini cruise to Prince Rupert in Northern BC.
