Located between Vancouver and Jasper, not too far from Kamloops, Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort is unique in Canada. It is an authentic working ranch, family owned and operated yet has luxurious accommodation and excellent food. Siwash somehow manages to be sophisticated and yet totally welcoming and friendly. It is remote with a private wilderness lake, surrounded by 80,000 acres of unspoiled wilderness. Terrain is gentle and rolling with open forests of Douglas fir, Aspen poplar, Blue spruce and Lodge pole pine interspersed with lakes and bordered by 2 rivers. Siwash Lake Ranch offers unlimited riding but there is plenty for the non-rider including excellent fishing, canoeing and walking.
For the rider, there is a wide choice of horses and on your first day, after a careful consultation, you will be assigned your horse who will be yours for the duration of your stay. Once you are accustomed to your surroundings and if you are confident, you will be allowed to ride on your own wherever you wish. Full day rides with picnic lunch on the range are available for stays over 3 nights. Children over age 6 who can ride are allowed to ride trails with their parents. If you are a first-time rider, plenty of instruction in Western riding is provided and if you wish you will be taught to groom and saddle your horse. You will soon be out on the range where you will be accompanied your private guide.
Recently Siwash Lake has added a rodeo size riding arena to the program for more teaching opportunities and guest gymkhanas. They have built a shooting range and created a trout fishing pond Most exciting is the addition of 3 gorgeous spacious tent suites on the Ridge across from the lodge. This is camping in style with proper bathrooms, heat and power!
Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort specializes in adult oriented holidays and honeymoons except during July and August when it becomes the perfect family holiday spot. All the activities are included in your cost except for the spa.

Why we like it?
Beautiful eco-ranch, run by its owners, good food and lovely surroundings
Big comforts; small footprint -- why not? That's how they do it at Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort. One of British Columbia's most luxurious dude ranches, this rural retreat in the remote Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region is also one of the greenest places to stay in the country.
