Fogo Island Inn is a one-of-a-kind contemporary Inn, cleverly designed by architect Todd Saunders as a bold, dramatic architectural statement on the very corner of Fogo Island. Fogo Island is a remote yet accessible island located off the northeast coast of Newfoundland, along “Iceberg Alley” of the Labrador Strait.
Each of the 29 suites are unique and every textile and piece of furniture is handcrafted and made locally. The beds are custom made and the bathrooms feature heated towel racks and heated toilet seats with built-in bidet. Room amenities include robes, slippers, boooks and locally-sourced toiletries. The opening floor-to-ceiling windows offer outstanding views of the North Atlantic.
The Inn also has a library, 37-seat cinema, gym, rooftop hot tubs and wood-fired rooftop sauna. The Inn's communal areas, with cosy wood-burning fireplaces and stoves, allow guests to gather or find a quiet spot to read or enjoy the ocean views.
Your stay - it has to be for a minimum of two nights - also includes a half-day orientation with a community host. Fogo Island itself is welcoming; there are 125 miles of paths, including many ancient, historical footpaths steeped. Seasonal activities include hiking, fishing, exploring the Backwestern Shore, boatbuilding orientations, craft programs, stargazing, a trip to Little Fogo Islands, a day with the chef, art immersions and a visit to the very special Oliver’s Cove.
