Un-Cruise Adventures - The Small Ship Cruise Line Inner Reaches Eastern Coves

7 nights

A small ship cruise to Southeast Alaska's Inside Passage is an unmatched way to combine a love of adventure with a love of the sea. The small ships carry 60 to 76 guests and show you an Alaska the big ships can’t by travelling up narrow passages and into secluded fjords.  Take in Alaska's peaks and glaciers, the wonder and wildlife that are the hallmarks of the Alaskan wilderness. Kayak among icebergs, hike pristine, remote forests, go eye to eye with whales, and brave the cold for a polar bear swim. Or just take it easy by following your sauna with an hour-long massage. The cruise itineraries are designed to avoid the tourist-clogged towns in pursuit of up-close encounters with nature, and flexible journeys allow you to tailor your cruise to your interest and activity level.

The Breakdown

Here's a day-by-day guide to your itinerary. Feel free to ask us to add other days or ideas and excursions by adding them to your wishlist, so we can give you the best price.

Day 2

Tracy Arm Wilderness/Frederick Sound

At the end of Tracy Arm, a winding fjord with sheer granite walls, hundreds of waterfalls, and some of the largest icebergs in all of Alaska, sits the twin Sawyer Glaciers—Sawyer and South Sawyer. The fjord is home to brown and black bears, deer, wolves, harbor seals, birds such as arctic terns and pigeon guillemots, and mountain goats, usually spotted high on the cliffs. Later today, move into Frederick Sound, summer feeding ground for the northern hemisphere’s largest concentration of humpback whales. Keep watch for humpbacks, orca, and Steller sea lions.

About Un-Cruise Adventures

In 1997, American Safari Cruises pioneered yacht cruising in Alaska. InnerSea Discoveries enjoyed its inaugural season of expedition-style active exploration of Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage in summer 2011.  In January 2013, the company changed its name to Un-Cruise Adventures.

Far from Ordinary. This isn’t small ship cruising or big ship cruising. These are Un–Cruise Adventures. Uncommon casual adventures fully-focused on delivering unexpected experiences - quality over quantity, wildlife over nightlife, life changing encounters over momentary entertainment. These one-of-a-kind, memory-making voyages are designed to be far from ordinary, and carry you outside of ho-hum tourist ports.

Each style of Un-Cruise Adventures features flexible voyages intended to inspire and satisfy your curious nature. Wildlife in its natural environment; personal exchanges behind the scenes with locals; unmatched moments melding with nature; and engagement in active adventure or living history presentations innovatively highlight your days. Whether you’re in the wilds of Alaska, sunning in the Hawaiian Islands or Sea of Cortés, or honing your inner explorer in the Pacific Northwest - you'll have a great time.

There are Three Ships offering this Cruise -

Wilderness Adventurer

Refurbished in early 2011, the 60-guest Wilderness Adventurer is the ultimate platform to deliver an Un-cruise Adventure—aboard the ship and in the water. The interior complements the outside and both public and private spaces are loaded with amenities. Enjoy socializing in the main lounge, which evokes the style of a National Park Lodge or neighborhood pub and relaxing on deck or keeping watch for wildlife.

Three accessible decks are fully equipped for comfort and action. The sun deck has an on-deck hot tub, sauna and fitness equipment; the observation deck allows for over-the-top viewing from the bow; and the EZ Dock launch platform on the main deck makes getting in the water a cinch. Onboard are kayaks; stand-up paddle boards; inflatable skiffs; hiking poles; yoga mats; hydrophone for listening to below-surface sounds; and a bow-mounted underwater camera pipes the action to the lounge and to your cabin TV.

The three cabin categories aboard the Wilderness Adventurer:  Navigator; Trailblazer; and Pathfinder accommodate singles and doubles.

Wilderness Discoverer

The 76-guest Wilderness Discoverer underwent extensive refurbishment in early 2011 and guest raves are still flowing. Expedition adventure is top-of-mind with this ship; and adventure and discovery lay at its heart. The interior complements the outside and public and private spaces are loaded with amenities. Enjoy a main lounge that evokes the feel of a National Park Lodge or neighborhood pub and relax on deck or keep watch for wildlife.

Onboard are kayaks; stand-up paddle boards; inflatable skiffs; hiking poles; yoga mats; hydrophone for listening below-surface; and a bow-mounted underwater camera pipes the action to the lounge and to your cabin TV.

The four cabin categories aboard the Wilderness Discoverer are:  Navigator; Trailblazer; Pathfinder; and Explorer. Depending on your cabin, singles, doubles or triples can be accommodated.

Wilderness Explorer

The newly renovated 76-guest Wilderness Explorer is equipped for action, adventure, and exploration. As with our other “Wilderness” ships, its interior complements the outside and public and private spaces are loaded with amenities. The ship offers a main lounge featuring a Douglas fir bar top, dining room, and ample space on deck for taking in the great outdoors.

Chris and Mark Griffiths

The 'un-cruise' with InnerSeas was just amazing and our experiences are really beyond description. The staff and crew went well beyond the call of duty to make everything special and I would have no hesitation in recommending the company
