Halifax to Moncton

Depart Halifax early and head north from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick and Moncton - a major urban centre where English and French Acadian culture blend harmoniously to create a unique community. Home to two unusual natural phenomena; the Tidal Bore on the Petitcodiac River and the famous Magnetic Hill.

Day 3

Moncton to Miramichi

Depart Moncton early and follow the Acadian Coastal drive north through coastal towns and villages. Enroute visit the Olivier Soapery, the Irving Eco Centre – La Dune de Bouctouche, the spectacular preserved sand dunes of New Brunswick. Also in the area visit Kouchibouguac National Park - a stunning display of beaches, Acadian forest, lagoons and sand dunes sweeping over 25 kilometres. If time permits perhaps take a canoe tour within the park to view the grey seal colony. Continue on and join the scenic Miramichi River Route, which travels through the many communities that make up the Miramichi region. The city of Miramichi is New Brunswick’s newest city and is made up of many unique shops, restaurants and heritage sites. This evening enjoy a Little Big Bear Safari tour – a must for all bear lovers and wildlife photographers!

Day 4

Miramichi to Fredericton

This morning explore Miramichi. Take a stroll along one of the many hiking trails around French Fort Cove, visit St. Michael’s Basilica, one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in Canada, take in the Beaverbrook House, the boyhood home of Lord Beaverbrook. In the afternoon depart depart for picturesque Fredericton, New Brunswick’s capital city, noted for its heritage and culture. You could vist Kings Landing Historical Settlement enroute. On arrival, spend the afternoon at leisure exploring Fredericton and its attractions. Highlights include the Historic Garrison District, Beaverbrook Art Gallery, City Hall, Christchurch Cathedral and the Old Government House. If you are there on a Saturday visit Boyce Farmers Market (best lobster rolls!).

Your evening entertainment should include a visit to one of the nine micro-breweries.

Day 5-7

Fredericton to St Andrews

Depart Fredericton and take time to visit the Kings Landing Historical Settlement and step back in time and re-live the 19th century way of life. Continue on to St. Andrews-by-the-sea, ranked among North America's prettiest and most affluent resort towns. The town comprises 550 buildings, over 280 of which were built before 1880. It is a perfect base for exploring the nearby Bay of Fundy.

There is much to occupy you here; whale watching in the Bay of Fundy is a must, visiting Kingsbrae Gardens or strolling along Water Street viewing the local wares of artisans and potters are highly recommended, as is a visit to Minister's Island. St Andrews is also foodie heaven; Rossmount Inn is one of the finest dining experiences in Atlantic Canada, using fresh local ingredients or try the tasting menu at Savour in the Garden at Kingsbrae Gardens.

2 or 3 nights in St Andrews.

Day 7

St Andrews to Campobello Island

There are three options for visiting Campobello Island; a day trip on the ferries with your car, the water taxi with a guided tour or car ferry, with an overnight.

The ferry option is island hopping with a difference! Drive from St Andrews to L'Etete (32 miles) and from there take the 20-minute ferry journey to Deer Island (leaves on the half hour), followed by a 20-minute drive across Deer Island for the 25-minute ferry to Campobello Island.

The water taxi runs from St Andrews, and is a bookable day tour which is guided with transportation.

Highlights on the island include the Roosevelt Campobello International Park, of which the Roosevelt Cottage is a focal point, and the Herring Cove Provincial Park, which is a true hiker's paradise. If you choose to stay overnight, accommodation would be at the Owen House.

Campobello Island to Saint John

New Brunswick’s largest and Canada's oldest incorporated city, Saint John is steeped in history with lots to see and do. Places to visit include Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site,the old city market - the oldest in North America the ceiling of which is an inverted hull of a ship -  Loyalist House, the New Brunswick Museum and probably the most famous – the Reversing Falls. The new Reversing Rapids Skywalk is a must, and don't miss having a meal at the fabulous East Coast Bistro.

Saint John to Alma

Drive to the Fundy Trail and enjoy some time exploring some of the many trails on offer. The lighthouse and views from Cape Enrage are also worth a visit and when hunger strikes, make sure you visit Kelly's Bakery for a fabulous sticky bun!

Overnight is in Alma, a charming fishing village at the entrance to the park.

Day 10

Fundy National Park to Shediac

This morning explore The Fundy National Park. This magnificent park has 206 sq kms of steep coastal cliffs, forest clad hills, deep rich valleys, rugged shoreline and rolling meadows. The park is renowned for its hiking trails, with over 104 kms of trails to choose from ranging from easy 1/2 km loops to a demanding 50 km circuit around the park. The park is a haven for bird watchers, golfers, cyclists, canoeists and naturalists. In the afternoon depart Fundy National Park and continue along the Fundy Coastal drive via Hopewell Cape, home of Hopewell Rocks. Be sure to visit the excellent Interpretive Centre on site before exploring these natural phenomena. Twice each day the highest tides in the world - up to 46 feet - flood the beach, and twice each day you can explore the floor of the Bay of Fundy at low tide! Created over thousands of years by the Bay of Fundy's awesome tidal forces, these rock formations are a natural wonder not to be missed! Continue onto Shediac., known as the lobster capital of the world! This evening enjoy the Lobster Cruise from Shediac – the most educational Lobster Cruise anywhere!

Shediac to Halifax

Depart Shediac and continue on your 2.5-hour journey back to Halifax Airport, where you will drop off your rental car ready for your return flight.
