Montreal

Today explore one of the most visited areas of the city - Old Montreal.  With cobblestone streets and quaint shops, this area is best explored on foot.  A walking tour includes lots of information on history and architecture, and many anecdotes revealing the secrets of Old Montreal.  You will visit Place d'Armes, Place Jacques Cartier, Notre Dame Basicia, the Champ de Mars and the Old Bonsecours Market.  In the evening you will have dinner at the Auberge Saint Gabriel.

Montreal to Quebec City

Take the train from Montreal to Quebec City.  You choose the time you catch the train to give you some free time in both cities.

Day 4

Quebec City

Experience Quebec City, the first French settlement in North America.  You will have a 2 hour tour, highlights of which will include the Plains of Abraham, Ramparts and Place d'Armes.  The Basilica, Place Royale and Citadelle will also be visited.  Dinner will be on board the M/V Louis Jolliet as you get a different view of Quebec City from the river - a truly memorable evening.

Quebec City to VIA Rail

You have a free day to explore the city's "old world" charm. Enjoy sidewalk cafes, outdoor displays by Quebec artists, and the unique French Canadian culture before boarding the overnight train to Halifax.

VIA Rail to Halifax

Your rail journey to Halifax continues on board. VIA Rail's 'Ocean' is the finest way to appreciate the splendid scenery of Canada's Maritime provinces as you pass through the rural communities of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  A late afternoon arrival and transfer to your hotel begins your stay in Atlantic Canada.

Halifax

Board the Haligonian III as it makes its wway to the Chebucto Head at the mouth of the Halifax Harbour on a 2.5 hour cruise.  The narrator will tell you about the history and geography of Halifax Harbour.  You may see Minke whales, pilot whales and fin whales as well as dolphins, seals and many marine birds.  Later, join animators portraying the characters of the late 1800s who guide you through the oldest working brewery in North America.  Throughout the tour, you will learn about the Keith's tradition and see how beer was brewed in 1860 and visit the beautifully detailed home of Alexander Keith.

Halifax

Your holiday ends today, but you will have time for some further exploration or shopping before departing to the airport for your homeward flight.
